TRESPASSERS ON RACECOURSES
ro THE EDITOR
Sir, —May I, in'the. interests of fair play ■ and justice,; be permitted to bring to the attention of the public a case that calls for immediate investigation? I understand that.at the recent racing conference eulogisic remarks were passed concerning the manner in which the racecourse inspectors keep the various courses free from undesirables. You will understand my surprise when during the course of the Waimate Hunt Club's meeting yesterday I noticed the. racecourse inspector standing alongside a person who w.ns lately convicted and heavily fined-on a charge involving a false pretence. A rank injustice'is perpetrated when this man, apparently with the consent of the racecourse inspector, is walking the course while men equally as trood ■ who have committed some petty offence, are .debarred from attending a race meeting. If the person to whom I refer hae received special dispensation good luck to him, but laws that are applied -and enforced in the case of a poor man should be,-applied and enforced without discrimination.—l am, etc., Kurow, July .27.
