TO THE EDITOR. .: .Sir, —The remarks of your correspondent " Stoke" are worthy of comment. The only evidence he can give for observing Sunday is tradition. He, says: "Sunday has been the day of rest for the British people since the earl.v centuries, and is, as all orthodox Christians know, the weekly. festival of the greatest even in this worlti's history. It is, therefore, to Christians the true Sabbath . . ." That puts the case exactly. The whole case is based on tradition, and there is no Scriptural evidence whatever to support the sacredness. of Sunday. Then " Stoke " continues with the truly remarkable proposition that the counting of "Joshua's long day" as two daye will transfer the' sanctity which the Bible places on Saturday, the seventh day, to Sunday. Incidentally, that is a naive admission that the true Bible Sabbath is the seventh day, not the first day. If "Stoke" will think more carefully, however," he will realise that by counting "Joshua's long day," as two days he will make the Sabbath fall on Friday, not on Sunday. A very simple calculation will convince him of this. As a matter of fact, though, "Joshua's long day "is just one day, and Saturday is still the Bible Sabbath. The Bible says a day is an "evening and a morning," and " Joshua's long day" conforms to-' that definition the same as any other day. If it were not so, wonld not the Lord have told us so, instead of. Himself keeping the seventh day, Saturday, and leaving it to "Stoke"'to■ announce*this veryremarkable proposition ?—I am, etc., Query,
