GIRL FEIGNS SLEEP
TERRIFIED INTO SILENCE HOUSE RANSACKED BY THIEVES. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 11. Afraid to call out, a 14-year-old girl pretended to be asleep while two thieves ransacked the house of her parents, named Wallbank, in Grey Lynn, on Saturday night. The girl was awakened by hearing whispering in her room, and, putting out her hand, she touched a man. Fearing that she would otherwise be hurt, she lay still till the thieves left by the front door, taking £3 in cash. She then went to neighbours to give the alarm. Her brother, aged seven, in bed with her, slept soundly throughput.'
