The greatest book exchange in the world to carried on by the famous Upsaia Library, Carolina Rediviya. Toward the middle of the eighteenth century, this library began a system of exchange with other Swedish libraries, and about a century later the system wag extended to other countries. By 1884 the library had relations with some 61 foreign libraries for the exchange of books. Since then the development hag continued at an amazing rate, and to-day more than 2600 libraries in various parts of the world send books to Upsala and receive Swedish books in return. Germany, France and Italy are the most active countries in sharing in this method of exchange. .
