Far the further entertainment and musical appreciation of patrons this wed: at the Vedic during the afternoon and evening sessions, the management has engaged the young English baritone, Frederic G. Taplin. Though still in his early twenties. Mr Taplin has had an outstanding career in England and abroad. Formerly boy soprano soloist of St. Mark’s, London, and a protege of that famous singing master Vindtn, he has delighted New Zealand critics with his golden voice, giving that colourful and artistic rendering which won for him the open .scholarship at the recent Christchurch musical festival. The adjudicator was Mr Ernest Jenner, and to quote his own words: “This young baritone has an outstanding voice, but what is move to the point is the excellent and artistic interpretation of his songs.”
