ESCAPE FROM PRISON TWO SENTRIES SHOT DEAD. CALCUTTA, May 22. (Received May 22, at 8.30 p.m.) Led by Jagira, a notorious desperado, 23 men serving sentences, for brigandage, daringly escaped from Faridkot State Prison yesterday. Jagira was conversing with a Sikh sentry at the prison gate when he suddenly seized his long beard through the bars and pulled him to the ground while the others snatched his keys and rifle and shot him dead. They then shot dead the prison arsenal sentry and looted 19 rifles am. thousands of rounds of ammunition, and fled into the jungle, pursued by large forces of police.
