THE MONTEREY
•m LIKELY TO BE HELD UP HALF THE CHEW WALK OFF. SAN FRANCISCO, May 20. (Received May 21, at 9 p.m.) It is regarded as certain that the Monterey will be held up by a strike. Half the crew are reported to have walked out, and negotiations for a settlement of the coast waterfront strike have reached a deadlock as the unions refuse to confer unless the closed shop be guaranteed.
