Mr Mark Edward Ridge is a young American who has come to England to make a balloon ascent into the stratosphere He hopea to reach an altitude of 25 miles in the open basket of a balloon. His idea is to ascend in a pressure Suit, and he is working in collaboration with Professor J. B. S. Haldanc and Sir Robert Davis, the inventor of the Davis submarine escape apparatus.
