SNOW IN KING COUNTRY
.», CROSSING POINTS FROZEN MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS DELAYED. (Peb United Press Asso«atios.) AUCKLAND, May 19. Intense cold was experienced in the King Country last night, and at Horopito the electric motor which works the crossing points froze, delaying the northbound express for over an hour. The snow which fell earlier in the night had frozen solid by midnight, and the motor shifted the points part of the way and then failed, eo thaf no traffic could pass. Attempts |to thaw out the motor failed, and the points had to be laboriously levered into position. As a result, the express reached Auckland one hour and 40 minutes late.
