HORDES IN SERBIA EVERYBODY SMOKING. /....'": BELGRADE, May 19. (Received May 20, at 7 p.m.) Almost everybody is smoking in eastern Serbia. It is found, to be the only means of keeping off hordes of death-dealing flies which are invading the countryside from Danube breeding grounds. Children are encouraged to smoke while at play as it prevents bites on the nostrils and throat. Two persons have died and animals are dying in thousands. Southern Serbia is also suffering a plague of poisonous snakes and tobacco smoke is the most. effective means of keeping them at a distance.
