THE PRICE OF EGGS

FALL IN ENGLAND POULTRY FARMERS ALARMED. LONDON, March 14. (Received March 14, at 11 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph's agricultural editor says poultry farmers are alarmed at the continued fall in egg prices, and are urgently seeking Government help. Eggs are cheaper than they have ever been in March since before the war. English new-laid eggs in some places are being retailed at 9d a dozen, and it is feared that unless imports are retrieved the price will fall to 6d. In some parts of the West of England it is difficult to sell eggs at all. The trouble is due to the home production increasing beyond expectation. - Empire importations have declined, but largely increased supplies came from Denmark, China, and Poland. ' '
