MAGNA CHARTA PAGEANT
ABOUT 7000 PERFORMERS A pageant in which about 7000 performers will take part is to he held on Runnymede from June !) to lfi this year. The scenes will probably include the sacking of Chertsey Abbey, an encounter between King Alfred and the Danes, an early Roman episode, a Georgian fair, a jousting scene, a Tudor episode, and the sealing of the Magna Gharta. Lady de Chair, who is making the preliminary arrangements, has obtained the support: of the majority of the leading residents in Windsor and Egham, including Viscountess Elibank, Lord Ashcombe. Lord Camrose, Lord Cardross, Lord Jessel, Elizabeth Lady Cheylesmore, Lady Margaret Sackville, Sir Archibald BoydCarpenter, M.P., Sir Anthony Jcnkinson, Sir Roderick Jones, Sir William Foster and Lady King. The regiments stationed at Windsor, including the Life Guards, are also to help. Tt is proposed to provide accommodation for 40,000 spectators. The proceeds will be devoted to charities, including King Edward VII Hospital, Windsor.
