DUNEDIN CLUB’S MEETING The weekly meeting of the Dunedin Amateur Cycling Chib was held at the Caledonian Grounds last evening. The weather was fine, but a strong wind from the Cargill road end bf the ground made it unpleasant for competitors. The Palf Mile Junior Handicap was won by the promising young rider W. Sivertsen, who rode a well-judged race to win by half a length from M. Paterson. H. Mussen showed good form to win both the Quarter Mile, points for which count for the Walker and Hall Cup, and the Half Mile Handicap for the President’s Cup. . . The One Mile Club Championship was won by the consistent rider G. Smith, who has been very successful this season. The Professional Two Mile Handicap was won by the ex-amateur, C. Hansen, who was lying in a good position throughout the race, and finished with a fine burst of speed to win by eight yards. Results:— ' . „ „ _ Half Mile Junior Handicap.—W. Sivertsen (syds) 1, M. Sivertsen sprinted to Win by half a length, with Richardson three lengths back third. Time, Imin 7 l-ssec. Quarter Mile Handicap (Walker and Hall Cup).—H. Mussen (65yds) 1.-G. Sinclair (25yds) 2, G. Smith (scrVa. Five started. The limit men made the best of their handicap, and, although Smith rode well, he was unable to get up. Won by 10 yards with 15 yards separating second and third. _ Time, 31sec. Half-mile Handicap (Presidents Cup). —First heat; C. Lucas (35yds) 1, G. Smith (scr) 2, W. Sivertsen (40yds) 3.. Five started. Time, Imin Bsec. Second heat: H. Mussen (105yds) 1, G Sinclair (40yds) 2, G. Homer (105ydsV 3. Five started. Time. Imin 5 4-ssec. Final: H. Mussen 1, W. Sivertsen 2, G. Homer 3. At the bell Mussen led his comiarker (Homer) by five yards, with Sivertsen 20 yards back. The back markers were unable to get up. Mussen was not headed and went on to win by five yards. Sivertsen finished fast to take second place five yards ahead of Homer. Time, Imin 6sec. One Mile Club Championship.—G. Smith 1, 6. Sinclair 2, C. Lucas 3. Four started. At the bell the field was bunched, with Gilchrist in the lead. Lucas went to the front going down the back, followed by Smith. In a good finish Smith rode fast to win by one length and a-half, with a similar distance separating second and third. Time. 2min 37sec. Two Mile Handicap (Professional). —C. Hanson (scr) 1, H. Cooper (180yds) 2. M. Cannon (170yds) 3. Seven started. With two laps to go Cooper led Cannon and J. llrbsnan. with Hansen and Hay 20 yards back. Hansen went up. and was with the field at the bell. Going down the back the last lap Cannon went to the front, followed by Hansen. Cooper led into the straight, but Hansen came through fast to win by eight, yards. Two lengths separated second and third. Time, smin Isec.
