INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH -ABANDONED * Rain seriously interfered with play in the lawn tennis tournament between teams ..from North Otago and Southland on Saturday, and after a number of games had been played on the Logan Park courts the venue of the tournament was shifted to the St Clair Club's courts in the hope that better condition* would prevail. The reverse was the case, however, and the tournament was finally abandoned "%ith Southland leading by seven matches to North Otago's two. The results' of the completed matches were as foljows (Southland names first) : MEN'S SINGLES.'. Sumpter beat" Mollison, 6—2. 6—2. LADIES/ SINGLES. Miss Melvin 0, Miss Miller 9. In an interprovineial lawn tennis cottiesf on Saturday, South Canterbury cured an easy win over Otago*. , The visitors, who were unaccustomed to grass courts, took some timei to\ settle down. The home team won all the Women's Singles, losing only one set, and the men won four but of the six Singles. The women .won: all the Doubles gam"es, the men dropping one, while the visitors won three of the Mixed. ,
