JAPANESE ARRESTED
TAKING PICTURES IN AMERICA NEW YORK, January 16. (Received Jan. 17, at 9 p.m.) The police took into custody five Japanese, all engineers of the Japanese Government railroad, after they had been seen photographing bridges, power plants, and factories near here. According to the police, who continued to hold the Japanese after nine hours of interrogation, the suspects explained that they were taking pictures purely for pleasure. The authorities, are developing the films in an effort to determine whether they photographed a nearby shipbuilding plant where two destroyers are being constructed.
