THE WEATHER
A light westerly wind and fine weather prevailed yesterday. The conditions ■were cloudy in the morning, but the afternoon was sunny. The maximum temperature was 74deg. REPORTS FROM NORTHERN CENTRES. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, January 17. There was a continuation of fine summer weather and a .moderate south-west wind to-day. There , was very little movement of the barometer. WELLINGTON. January 17. The morning was cloudy, but the afternoon was mostly sunny. A fresh northwesterly wind blew throughput the day, rising in gusts to over '.40 miles an hour. The maximum temperature was 69deg. CHRISTCHURCH. January 17. The weather was line and sunny to-day. A north-west wind in the morning made the conditions unpleasantly hot, and the thermometer reached 80deg. In the early afternoon the wind changed to the north-east, and the temperature fell rapidly to 66deg. The barometer read 29.68 in this evening.
