THE BIRKIN FORTUNE
astonishing disappearance LONDON, December 14. (Received Dee. 14, at 6.5 p.m.) Investigations following the death of Sir Henry Birkin revealed the astonishing disappearance of a fortune of over within 11 years. Sir Thomas Birkin, father of the racing motorist, died in 1931, leaving £137,825, while Henry, the third baronet, left only £6439. The original Birkin fortune was made by the first baronet, a Nottingham lace manufacturer, who died in 1922.
