PROGRAMMES FROM 4YA STATION

ro the editor. Sir, — I heartily endorse the remarks of your correspondent “/T.F.M. ” in this morning’s issue of the Daily Times regarding the programmes from 4YA. Thera are now so many high class records that it is to be expected that the demand for local talent has declined. There is all the more reason, therefore, why the talent that is submitted should be of the best. I may mention that I attended a vocal recital given a few weeks ago by a local singer, whose numbers, in a varied and taxing programme, were a sheer delight, showing ability and artistry of a very high order. Although a regular listener, I do not remember having heard this singer ’over the air, and I am sure such numbers as I had the pleasure of hearing at the recital would be more then welcome to all listeners who appreciate good singing. When talent like this is in our midst, why should we not hear it? May I- also ask the question that is asked by many enthusiasts —whether 4YA ig making any improvement in its announcing?—l am, etc., Hopeful. -
