ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
BUSHMAN KILLED (Pee United Press Association.) ROTORUA, November 17. Apparently struck by the heavy limb of a tree which was found lying beside his body, a bushman, William John Jones, aged 45, a widower, was discovered dead in Mamaku Bush early yesterday morning. A search was made when Jones did not return to his whare on the previous evening, and the discovery was made by three of deceased’s fellow-employees. Jones was working alone in the heart of the bush, 12 miles from the road. The coroner (Mr W. L. Richards) proceeded to the scene, where the inquest was held, and a verdict of accidental death returned. WOMAN FOUND DEAD (Per United Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, November 17.. A Kaipawa resident, Mrs J. B. Moir, was found dead in tragic circumstances yesterday afternoon. The discovery was made by passers-by, who, attracted by an invalid boy, believed that death had occurred on Tuesday night. Mrs Moir had been in ill-health, but appeared comparatively well on Monday, when her husband left for his work in the country.. It is stated that no inquest was considered necessary. Mrs Moir had been medically attended. MOTOR CAR OVERTURNS THREE PERSONS INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 17. Three persons were injured—one seriously—on the Hutt road this afternoon when a new saloon car overturned near the Onslow road junction. The car, which was proceeding in a northerly direction, was endeavouring to avoid another car coming toward the city. It is understood that the north-bound car got out of control and turned over several times before coming to rest upside down. The driver of the car was ,Mr W. Wallace, of Johnsonville, and he was accompanied by his wife and a friend —Mrs S. H. Peryman. Of the three Mrs Wallace was the most seriously injured, receiving severe wounds to the head and chest. Mr Wallace and Mrs Peryman escaped less serious injuries, Mr Wallace receiving scalp wounds and shock and Mrs Peryman a broken collarbone. RAILWAY PASSENGER’S DEATH A man named Norma,) Newall met his death on the railway lino near Ravensboorne yesterday afternoon After being in town for the day to receive dental treatment be was returning Home by the Oamarn train, and it is be’ieved that ho jumped from the carriage in which he was ti a veiling and fell beneath the wheels of the next car.
