COLLEGE IN MOUNTAINS
Although gifts are 80 per cent, below the amount of 1929, the Lees-M‘Ra« Junior College, high in the mountains of North Carolina, United States of America, has been carried on. It merely becomes more self-sustaining. More than one-half of the 227 students go through the year virtually without money, exchanging work for tuition, subsistence, and shelter. The students raise most of the food, build additions to the college plant, and, in. season, operate it as a summer resort. With most of its outside support withdrawn, the Lees-M‘Rae College not only remains open, but is expanding.
