EUROPEAN FLOGGED
INCIDENT IN BECHUANALAND ADMIRAL TO INVESTIGATE. CAPETOWN, September 11. Two hundred marines, with two howitzers, entrained for Bcchuanaland as an escort to Admiral Evans, who is on bis way to investigate the flogging of a European by the order of the Native Court. The European, Phineas M’lntosh, was charged with immorality against natives. Chief Tshekcdi informed Europeans after the trial that M’lntosh, his brother, and another were repeatedly before him on similar charges. An inquiry on Wednesday at Palapye road revealed that the departure of the sailors was responsible for wild rumours.
