MAJORITY FOR “WETS”
THE VOTING IN MAINE PROHIBITION APPEAL. PORTLAND, September 11. (Received Sept. 12, at 9 p.m.) Maine, ■which for over 80 years has had State prohibition, became the twenty-sixth State to ratify repeal of the Amendment to-day. Almost complete returns indicated a two to one victory for the “ wets.” Action in the required 36 States is now virtually assured of being taken by November 7 with complete ratification within a month after that date.
