MARKETING OF MILK
THE BRITISH SCHEME APPROVED BY FARMERS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 6. By an overwhelming majority 150,000 farmers of England and Wales have declared thcmseh'es in favour of the Government's milk marketing scheme, undw which the sale and collection of milk ;i' - e controlled by a board. The result of the poll of farmers recently taken on the proposed formation of national and regional milk pools was announced to-day by the National Farmers' Union, as follows: —In favour, 96.42 per cent.; against, 3.58 per cent. On the basis of the figures declared by the registered producers, the number of cows on August 19 last was 1,556,843. The registered producers who voted in favour of the scheme possess 96.61 per cent, of the cows, and those who voted against own 3.39 per cent.
