VIOLENT STORM IN PERTH.
CIRCUS SUFFERS BADLY. PERTH, September C. A wind and rain storm, lasting several hours, caused suspension of the traffic at one period. Wirth's Circus suffered badly. A large marquee was ripped to ribbons and the menagerie was flattened. The velocity of the wind reached 62 miles per hour. SHEARERS' WAGES. • COURT REFUSES INCREASE. SYDNEY, September 7. (Received Sept. 7, at 10 p.m.) The Federal Arbitration Court to-day refused an application by the Australian Workers' Union for a substantial increase in wages for shearers and others engaged in the pastoral industry. The court held that the recent increase in the price of wool was not sufficient to restore the pastoral industry to the sound position it enjoyed before the slump. BUTTER FOR LONDON MARKET. COMMON BRAND AGREED ON. MELBOURNE, September 7. (Received Sept. 7, at 10 p.m.) A plan has been agreed upon by groups of Australian butter factories to pack large quantities of the best quality Australian butter in London and market it in Great Britain under a common Australian brand. It is also intended to put up the butter in one pound pat form and market it there under the same brand.
