WRESTLING
WALKER v. VARGA. To-morrow's contest in the Town Hall between George Walker and. Count Varga will complete another stage in the. search for this year's New Zealand champion. Walker has held that title for three years, and has been fully entitled to it. However, this season there are three other wrestlers all of whom are capable of lowering the champion's colours. Of these three, Varga perhaps takes the first place, for he lias already it decision over Walker at Wellington. Varga has displayed his ability in Dunedin, and those who saw him in the match against " Whiskers" Blake must have recognised a wrestler of more than average ability and certainly of m»re than average strength. On his feet, he is recognised as a better man than Walker, while the champion shades him, perhaps, in work on the mat. It should be a battle of wits as well ns a test of strength to-morrow, and, because of the inconclusive results of their contests so far, this bout is creating a great deal of public interest that is not wholly confined to Dunedin. There will he four amateur preliminaries.
