NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES (Per United Press Association.) BLENHEIM, September 7. The nnnunl meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Association opened ' his morning, Mr C. T. Smith presiding in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr TT. R. Dixon. The delegates weie accorded a civic reception by the Mayor, Mr M'Kenzie. The report and balance sheet were taken as rend, and adopted without discussion. Mr Seager moved, on behalf of the Tiinaru Association, that the rules be altered to allow championship bouts on a percentage basis. After discussion the remit was losf. Mr Garchia, for the Taranaki Association, moved that a fee be charged fcr all permits to clubs holding tournaments, the proceeds to go to the insurance fund. Ultimately the motion was recast to bring it info line with a similar remit carried at last conference, and carried. The fee was fixed at 10s.

Mr Dawson, treasurer, during the discussion on finance, submitted a statement showing that the Australian visit was estimated to cost £350. This would leave a debit to be made up by a 2 per cent, levy on house takings, or a straight-out levy on the associations.

A remit recommending that the association bring down the estimates and receipts of expenditure for the ensuing year at the prior annual meeting was carried on the motion of Mr Talbot (Wellington). It was decided, on the motion of Mr Heeney (Gisborne) that the minimum purse for professional title bouts be reduced from £SO to £35. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr W. Newbigin (Hawkc's Bay) ; vice-presidents —Messrs H. R. Dix (Marlborough), G. Bush (Auckland) ; New Zealand Council—Dr P. F. M'Evedy, Messrs D. R. Hazzard, J. R. Simpson, E. Blundell, E. A. Dawson, H. H. Sterling, and Colonel St. J. Bcene, all of Wellington : Appeal Committee —Messrs C. F. Sanders, V. R. Meredith, and H. R. M'Kenzie (Auckland).

Four applications Hawke's Bay, Whangarci, Wellington, and Gisborne — were made for next year's tourney. On the vote the fixture was awarded to Hawke's Bay, to be held at Hastings. There was animated discussion when Mr Lindsay (Southland) moved that if an Australian team visits New Zealand the intercolonial tourney be held at Invercargill. Several delegates objected to settling such a question so far ahead, and the motion was withdrawn. TOURNAMENT OPENS FIRST NIGHT'S CONTESTS. (Per United Press Association.) BLENHEIM, September 7. With a total of 102 nominations, by far the greatest number ever known in the history of the fixture, the New Zealand boxing championships opened tonight before a crowded house.
