THEFT OF MONEY
STOLEN FROM REGISTERED LETTER (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September C. John Robert M'Kay, aged 21 years, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for the theft of £2 and for failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation. The accused obtained possession of a registered letter containing the money. He.was remanded on a further charge of forging and uttering a cheque for £4 10s at Ashburton. The winter of our discontent is not here —we use Kaitangata Coal.—Advt Railway carriages of the noiseless variety are not popular in Holland. The rattle of the old type covered conversation and allowed the passenger to read and rest undisturbed by what other travellers might be saying.
