(Feom Oub Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, August 24." CHARGE OF ASSAULT. The sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M. was prolonged until 6 p.m. with the hearing of a charge of assault brought by George H. Farquhar, of Warepa Mr Grigor) against Charles Burnby (Mr Walter), in which £3O 5s was claimed tor assaulting the plaintiff, and breaking his collar-bone at Warepa on June 12. ltie sum included medical expenses (£5 5sJ. The defendant counter-claimed for, £l7 10s, damages on account of the ,plawtm poisoning a .block of land to which the defendant had the sole Tight. The plaintiff, in evidence, said that defendant called at his place on the date named and accused him and his sons of poaching. Mrs John Kinder, who died at-her residence at Roslyn, Dunedin, ov i Tuedav aged 86 years, was buried at Balclut'ha Cemetery to-day. Mrs Kinder was the widow of Mr .John Kinder, who, was a successful gold miner in the fifties an Australia and later » n , otag f ° o H in P duca ties He was much interested in educaton and most of his family had dist nguished educational careers. Mrs Kinder wafa daughter of the late Mr James, Nelson, of. Lovell's Flat. There was a family of sis sons and four daughters. Mr and Mrs Kinder retired to live in Balclutna in" 1901, and Mr Kinder" sen., died about 20 years ago. In 1926 Mrs Kinder and daughter went to live in Dunedin. She was a devoted adherent of the Presbyterian Church. She. is survived by Mr William Kinder (OamaruK Mrs Jasper Clark (Lovell s Flat),. Mrsi Orr Campbell '.(Dunedin), Mr Tom and Miss Jessie Kinder (Dunedin). Ihe service at the graveside to-day conducted by the Rev Dr S. W. Cume (Dunedin), and the Rev. Roy Alley (DunG Mr William Marshall, of Warepa, who died at the Balclutha Hospital on Wednesday, at the age of 76 years, was an old resident of the district.
