FIRST GRADE TOURNAMENT WON BY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS. The Otago Basket Ball Union’s First Grade tournament was held on the University Courts on Saturday afternoon in fine but cold weather before a fairly large crowd of spectators. Five teams entered, and the play, although fast, was marred considerably by the fact that the players were unable to become thoroughly warmed up in the short five-minute spells which constituted each game. ExOtago High School Girls won the cup with an aggregate of 8 points, this team going through the tournament without a loss. Albany I were second with (5 points, then came Albany II (3 points), University {2 points), and Ex-Otago High School Girls II (1 point). The tournament was carried out in a capable and efficient manner by officials of the Otago Basket Ball Union, those responsible for the conduct of the contests being Mr J. A. Moore (timekeeper), Mr S. E. Griffiths (scorer), Miss R. MTvenzie, Messrs J. Breese, and A Murie. The following are the results: — First Round. Ex-Girls I 6, University 2. Albany I C, Ex-Girls II 1.
