LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY SOCIAL. A fine concert programme was provided at the monthly social of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Association at Wilson’s Hall on Saturday night. The first item was an instrumental trio with Miss Sybil Baker at the piano, Miss Thelma Lupp (violin), and Mr J. Dick (cello). Mr R. Ducrdon sang several songs in vigorous style, appeared later with Mr Sugar in a well-rendered duct, an.l again with Mr G. Mearns in a humorous interlude of song and story. The singing of Miss Dorothy Allan was delightful and her four songs were sung with charm and artistry. Mr S. Angel was heard in two songs, as was also Mr C. King. Miss Thelma Lupp, a talented violinist, pleased the audience with her solo work. Two humorous monologues were given by Mr Clarence Paine in good style. Mr G. Mearns then presented several humorous numbers, after which the president of the society (Mr L. J. Spence) expressed appreciation of the services of the performers and paid a special tribute to Miss Sybil Baker, who played the accompaniments. Dancing was then indulged in.
