A light south-west wind and fine sunny weather prevailed in Dunedin yesterday. The conditions were cold in the shade. The barometer is rising, and registered 29.90 last evening. A moderate south-west wind and very wet weather prevailed to-day, frequent heavy showers being experienced until late this afternoon, after which the conditions remained threatening. The barometer had fallen to 29.55 in at midday and was afterwards steady. WELLINGTON, August 4. The fine weather spell was broken today when rain fell for the greater part of the day and a keen south wind prevailed. Toward evening the rain ceased and a southerly blew strongly with a drying effect. CHRISTCHURCH, August 4. The weather to-day was dull and fairly cold, with a fresh south-west breeze in the morning, changing to light wost-sonth-west in the afternoon. The barometer rose to 29.90.
