-IMPROVED APPROACHES

(Received August 3, at 5.5 p.m.) An important scheme, costing £188,!HiO, to improve the approaches to London docks has been approved by the Loudon County Council and will be put in hand shortly. The existing bridges are inadequate to stand the strain of the enormous daily volume of traflic and it is proposed to reconstruct the bridges at Stepney, Bermondsey, and Poplar. The carriage ways will be widened from 8 feet to 25 feet, and the road approaches improved. The Port of London Authority and the Ministry of Transport will cooperate.
