DASH INTO FLAMES

AN OLD MAN SAVED

Hundreds of holiday-makers cheered Mr John Scott, a labourer, of Whitehead Hill, Scarborough, recently, when he rescued an old man from a blazing shop. Before the fire brigade arrived Mrs Winn and her daughter discovered that Air Winn, who is 79, had pluckily entered the blazing shop to fight the flames. They screamed hysterically, and, after several men had failed to get into the shop, Mr Scott dashed through the flames and brought out the old man, who was still clutcSing an empty; bucket. Mr Winn was almost unconscious, but he was revived with brandy. The shop was burned out, the fire raging for nearly an hour. Mr Scott is an old Scarborough footballer. His hair and eyebrows were scorched.
