THE VICTORIAN RAILWAYS. DIESEL ELECTRIC TRAINS. MELBOURNE, August 2. The Victorian Railway Commissioners are inviting tenders from overseas for the supply of Diesel electric motors preparatory to the’ introduction of Diesel electric trains. The commissioners estimate that country trains can run on oil at a third of the cost per mile of steam trains relying on coal.
ELDERLY WOMAN MURDERED.
NEPHEW ARRESTED,
MELBOURNE, August 2, (Received August 3, at 0.15 a.m.)
Leo Starr, aged 18, a farm employee, was arrested at Wanganratta and charged with the murder' of his aunt, Katherine Starr, aged 72, who lived alone at Tarrawingee. Her head was battered in a terrible manner.
