Y.M.C.A. WINTER FAIR

The Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox) will open the Y.M.C.A. Winter Fair at 2.30 p.m. to-day to provide funds for the carrying out of its extensive work for the boys of the city. With the advent of the slump, and the consequent disorganisation of commerce and industry, the plight of the boy leaving school became a serious problem, owing to the decline in positions offering. As it has always done at such times of crisis the Y.M.C.A. immediately stepped into the breach to make the contribution necessary within its sphere of work, and that contribution is now widely known amongst citizens. In assisting the Y.M.C.A. to launch this effort to meet the extra drain on its resources, the business people of the community have been very generous, and an appeal is made to the public to visit the fair, and by purchasing the wide range of provisions and goods displayed assist the maintenance of this work for youth.
