THE NEW ALBANY STREET SCHOOL

TO THE Sib, —I am informed that the new Albany Street School is to be confined to pupils of Standards V and VI and that the majority of the teachers are to be women. This teaching of boys by women may possibly be cheaper, but it seems to me to be both short sighted and dangerous and likely to lead to a type of man who will be very polite,_ very sleek, and very effeminate, but lacking in intestinal fortitude. Later we shall hear the rulers of our destinies blaming the rising generation for not having the manly qualities of the last. There are some precautions, we should take, and one of the first is to make sure that our boys are brought up to be men with the viewpoint and outlook of men.-—• I am, etc.. The Ides of March. August 1. [The new Albany Street School, will be classed as an intermediate school, and will be confined to Standards V and VI. The teaching staff will consist of four males and six females. — Ed., O.D.T.]
