WOOL IMPROVEMENT SCHEME
FAVOURED BY WAIRARAPA FARMERS (Per United Press Association.) MASTERTON, July 31. , A well-attended meeting of sheep farmers to-day heard addresses by Mr J. E. -Hewitt, Dr Marsdcu and Sir William Perry on the sheep and wool improvement scheme. A motion affirming that something should be done in connection with the improvement of wool was carried unanimously. The meeting rejected by 24 votes to 15 the proposal that .e Meat Board should be asked wholly to finance the research and improvement scheme. A motion approving the establishment of the proposed special committee and the imposition of a levy of 3d per bale on wool was then carried without dissent. After some discussion the following motion was carried—" That a protest be made against the Railways Board with the help of the Transport Board in (1) creating a monopoly of transport; (2) fixing the minimum tariff on transport; (?,) the restriction on private enterprise through the granting of area and seasonal licenses."
