LOCAL AMENITIES

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —No doubt a good many of tbc friend# of the late Mr Chamberlain feel sorry that the little corner near George street, which he loved very much, is threatened with ’ destruction. After Mr Bathgate, who started the amenities movement, which has done so much fqr Dunedin and its suburbs, no one man gave so freely most valuable service to that movement. Can nothing be done to save that little corner? Many of us, 1 am sure, are ready to. help, and the City Council, always wise in its co-operation, can be trusted to do its share.—l am, Amicus. Dunedin, June 30.
