CAPTAIN COOK’S COTTAGE
BOUGHT FOR VICTORIA
RE-ERECTION AS MEMORIAL.
LONDON, June 28.
Captain Cook’s cottage was sold for £BOO. It was bought by the Victorian Government. The cottage will be demolished, transported to Australia, and re-erected as a memorial to the circumnavigator.
A previous message stated: Captain Cook’s home at Great Ayrton (Yorkshire), where he lived from the age of eight, and where he visited relatives after his voyages to Australia and New Zealand, is to be sold by auction about June 28.
