RAVENSBOURNE CONGREGATIONALISTS
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. Anniversary services were continued in the Ravensbourne Congregational Church on Tuesday evening. The minister (the Rev. T. Flower) presided over an attendance that filled the church to overflowing, extra seating accommodation having to be provided. Mr Flower, in extending a hearty welcome to all, said how pleased he was to see such a largo audience. It went to show that the people of Ravensbourne took a keen interest in church work, and he felt sure that the future welfare of the church was assured.
The Mayor of West Harbour (Mr X. Harridge), the Revs. James M. Smooth, J. J. Cnirney (Presbyterian) and Mr Moore (Methodist) gave short speeches, each congratulating the church on attaining another year of its usefulness. The vocal and instrumental part of the programme was then proceeded with. This was provided by the United Church, Dunedin, Orchestra, assisted by other artists, and consisted of the following items:--Overture, orchestra; song, Mr J. B. Watt; items in character, Miss Muriel Eagar's pupils; recitation, Miss Hislop; 'cello solo, Mr A. J. Phillips; vocal duct, Misses M. Johnston and M. Dryden; trio —Mr and Mrs Phillips and Mr Smeeth; recitation, Miss Winnie Dyer; song, Miss Muriel Eagar; humorous song, Mr W. Sinclair; song, Mr G. Dyer; song, Miss Meade; steel guitar duet, Messrs Smith and Edwards.
Mr Monk, on behalf ot the church, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the performers and in doing so stated that he was quite sure that one and all would agree with him when he said that they had listened to one of the best anniversary programmes ever given at their church, and that they were deeply grateful to them for providing such an enjoyable evening's entertainment. After refreshments had been served by the ladies, the social was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem accompanied by the full orchestra.
