AUSTRALIAN CITRUS FRUITS
TO THE EDITOR. Slß—The speeches of the members of the deputation to the Chamber ot Commerce yesterday show' that fruiterers quite misunderstand-the present position. There is no shadow of doubt that these New Zealand fruiterers will soon have once more the trade in Australian fruit which is temporarily lost, and at the same time they will also regain a very lucrative trade in shipping New Zealand potatoes to Australia—a trade which they have lost just as surely as the trade in Australian fruit, but which they have forgotten about,, because it was taken from them long ago. At present Australia and New Zealand are having a game of poker, in which New Zealand holds a full hand to a pair held by Australia; and the New Zealand fruiterers are suggesting that ke\y Zealand should throw in her hand.—l am. etc.. Hold-on. Dunediu, June 28.
