KUROW NOTES
SCHOOL SWIMMING BATHS. The chairman of the Kurow School Committee (Mr J. R. Jackson) has received advice from the Education Board approving of the proposed site of the swimming baths in the school grounds. The committee intends to commence Jhc excavations for the foundations immediately. There is on the surface a quantity of good soil about two feet in depth and tenders will shortly be called for the right of removal of this. It is intended to erect the baths with unemployed labour. The school was recently gazetted a district high school with Mr A. M‘R. Davidson as headmaster and Mr A. O’Reilly as secondary assistant. The committee has decided that the school colours for all purposes shall be a wide red band edged with two very narrow stripes of gold on a navy blue ground. RUGBY FOOTBALL. Mr T. Butler was referee for the primary schools’ match, Kurow v. Hydro, which the latter team won by 6 points to nil. This completes the first round, Hydro having defeated Hydro Y.M.C.A., aiid Kurow and Y.M.C.A. drawing. The positions of the teams are as follows: — Hydro 4, Kurow and-Hydro Y.M.C.A. 1 each. The following is the draw for the second round, all games on the latter club’s ground:—Hydro v. Hydro Y.M.C.A., July 1: Kurow v. Hydro Y.M.C.A., July S; Hydro v. Kurow, July 15. BASKET BxiLL. Y.M.C.A. defeated Good Companions bj r 7 to 3. Mrs K, Carr was the referee. HOCKEY. Huia defeated Bluebird A 6 to nil, Hydro A defeated Bluebird B 8 to 1. Windsor defeated Hydro B 24 to nil.
