INTRUDER IN HOUSE
WOMAN VICIOUSLY ASSAULTED PEPPER THROWN IN FACE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 23. Suffering from a contused wound of the scalp, shock, and eye injuries caused Dy 1 having pepper thrown in her face, Mrs M. E. Levy, of 114 Richmond street, Petone, was taken to the hospital from the Petone Police Station shortly after 1 o’clock this morning by the free ambulance. ' ... The police interviewed Mrs Levy in the hospital to-day. It appears that she returned homo late last night and found a man inside the house. Pepper was thrown in her eyes and she was struck on the head with an iron bar. The man decamped without taking anything. She lives alone in the house. Her condition is not regarded as serious.
