RETURNED SOLDIERS’ CLUB

On Monday evening the Returned Soldiers’ A team met the D.S.A, A in the first round of the A Grade inter club matches, and secured a win by the margin of 10 points. Tile scores were as follows: — R.S.A.: J. Judson 79, W. Meikle 78. J. M'Kee 78, D. Marr 76. O. Holden 76. H. Edmonds 76, W. Goudie 76, D. G. M‘Kay 76;—total, 615. D.S.A.—L. Blagdon 78, E. Cameron 77, C. Moodie 76, E. Paton 76, P. Williams 75, T. Redley 75, A. Andrews 74, M. Wyber 74;—total, 605. After the match a club shoot was fired, good targets being secured. J. Judson, with a 79 off the rifle, being the winner of the president’s button. Next Monday evening, by the courtesy of the Otago Miniature Rifle Association, the Returned Soldiers’ Club will control the first shoot of the N. L. J, Cowie Shield matches for teams of five men, all to be affiliated members of one club. A large muster of club members is anticipated. The following will represent the K.S.A. Club in the first match:—No. 1 team — Messrs D. Marr, J. Judson, W. Meikle, J. Harrison, O. L. Holden. No. 2 team — Messrs W. Goudie. S. Harvey, H. Edmonds, J. Potter, D. G. M'Kay. No. 3 team —Messrs T. Menzies, G. H. Ferens, M. Harvey, J. M'Kee, D. H. llowntree. Range duties have been allotted as follows: —Range officers, Messrs T. A. M'Kenzie and W. Goudie; scorers, Messrs W. Meikle and D. G. M'Kay; score books, Messrs G. H. Ferens and W. Perry; target runners —Messrs M. Harvey, D. H. llownIree, and S. Harvey; telescopes —Messrs J. Harrison, T. Menzies, L. Watson,-aud O. Holden. The K.S.A. team competing in the competition for the Winchester Cup, promoted by the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association, fired on the Drill Hull range on Saturday. The following were the scores: —J. Judson 194, D. Marr 193, O. L. Holden 190, J. Harrison 190, W. Meikle 188;—total, 955. SPEIGHT’S v. DUNEDIN. Teams from Speight’s and Dunedin Clubs met: at Speight’s range on Thursday evening to fire their match in the first round of the A Grade championship. The scoring on both sides was only medium, with the exception of A. Baker, of the Dunedin Club, who secured the coveted possible. The scores were as follows: Dunedin—A. Baker 80, R. Bruce 79, H. Hands- 78, J. Wignall and G. H. Smith 77, R. Finder, R. GilUck, and C. A. M’Nish 76;—total, 619. Speight’s—J Weatherston 78, J. Malcolmson 77, H. Pettet aud M. Greenslade 76, A. M'Donnlcl and H. J.
