REV. W. P. NICHOLSON'S MISSION

Taking advantage of the presence in "Dunedin of the Rev. W. P. Nicholson, of the American Presbyterian Church at Los Angeles, some local residents interested in the spiritual welfare of the citizens of Dunedin have requested him to address a public meeting to-morrow afternoon. Accordingly the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall has beeuj secured and arrangements for the details necessary for the success of a large meeting have been made by the committee in charge. Mr Nicholson is an Irishman by birth, a fluent and ready speaker, with a refreshing, kindly and appealing humour which does not detract from his reverential treatment of the great verities of the Christian faith. His experience ns an evangelist covers a period of over 30 years. He commenced life as a sailor, and right up to the present has ha! an observing eye and retentive mind, so is able to draw upon his knowledge :»f men and women in a sympathetic and interesting manner to illustrate bis point. Some years ago he held successful missions in the Australian States and was one of the leaders in the Irish revival in Ulster in 1920-1928. He has just completed a mission in Auckland city an! the buildings in which this was conducted, although holding some 1600 persons, proved too small and hundreds had to be turned away. During tin’s week he has been conducting a series of meetings to the University students of Dunedin and is due to begin a series of meetings in a northern city next week. The evangelist is fervent in spirit, vigorous in utterance, of pleasing personality, well taught in the Scriptures and much gifted in his presentation of the saving truths of the Gospel which he lives to circulate. The Rev. George Miller, of the North-East Valley Presbyterian Church, will be chairman to-morrow afternoon.
