EXPORT OF CALF VEILS
SHORTAGE IN NEW ZEALAND RENNET COMPANY’S f COMPLAINT. (Peb United Press Association.) HAMILTON, June 22. “ Owing to tie export of calf veils by interests opposed to co-operation it became necessary to import from oversew to supply the cheese factories’ requirements,” stated the chairman (Mr J. I*. Murdoch) at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Co-op. Rennet Company last night. “We are still in doubt whether sufficient New Zealand veils will be offered to us next season, and to protect shareholders’ interests we nad to purchase large supplies from England which are now in transit. Provision has been made as in past years not only for the rennet and colour actually ordered by dairy companies, but also for all possible additional requirements of the industry. - “Tn the past all our products have been manufactured from New Zealand raw material,” added Mr Murdoch. “ Certain companies have bought up New Zealand veils and exported them, and we Lad to import veils from Europe. Such a position should not be tolerated. We are prepared to buy up all veils available for the next two or three years._ It was good news to hear from the Minister to-day that he had issued an ultimatum insisting that our company should bo supplied with all the veils available. We shall see that this is carried into effect.’
