ROADSIDE HOARDINGS
PROHIBITION IN QUEBEC
QUEBEC, May 17,
By the terms of an Act recently passed by the Legislature of the Province of Quebec, billboards and posters are henceforth prohibited alongside main highways in the province and can be erected only at places where they will not spoil the scenery or be a hindrance to the safety of traffic. When it comes into force, at the end of 1934, this new law will serve to preserve the beauty of the Quebec country side and prevent the marring of the most beautiful landscapes by distasteful signs. There are more than 15,000 miles of concrete, hard, paved, and gravel roads in the province of .Quebec, which give easy access for motorists to the most attractive beauty spots in the province. These roads connect, of course, with the principal centres in’Quebec and the trunk roads connecting with similar highways in the United States.
