WOMEN’S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION

On Thursday, June 15, the Merton branch of the Women’ll Division, Farmers’ Union, held a successful opening meeting, Miss Kenyon presiding. Each member contributed a favourite recipe and a household hint.

The June meeting of the Ratanui branch was held on June 14, Mrs Craigie presiding. Mrs Craigie gave a good account of the conference recently held in Dunedin, after which Mrs Frew gave .a demonstration on “passe-partout, <all being interested. The. roll call was answered by “ray favourite author.” The competition for three pikelets was won by Mrs MTaggart. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the president for her address, also to Mrs Frew for her demonstration.

The Owaka branch met ip the Memorial Hall on Thursday, June 15. Mrs Wright presided over a smaller attendance than usual. The president gave an excellent report of her visit to the conference in Dunedin on June 1, and showed that the visiting ladies had been well treated by the organisers in Dunedin, and that the entertainments were much enjoyed, Mrs Lopdell’s entry, a pair of child’s moccasins, took first place in the corapetition } new from something .old."
