BOGUS FIRE CALLS
NINE FRUITLESS ERRANDS YOUTH BEFORE THE COURT. (Per - United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. A youth who brought out the fire brigade on nine bogus calls within four days appeared in court this morning. The accused, Francis Waldcrma Malaquin, aged IT, a newspaper runner, was fined £5, in default one month.
The police said the brigade turned out on each occasion at a cost of £5 a time. In addition, police and firemen were out all night watching the alarm boxes. Two firemen saw Malaquin hovering about an alarm box, and questioned him. He said he was waiting to get papers from .another newsrunner. Later a constable! interviewed Malaquin, who admitted the offences.
The' magistrate (Mr E. D, Mosley) said the offences were worse than any larrikinism.
