LIVE STOCK BILL
REGULATING SALES ADVISORY COMMITTEE PROPOSED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 22. A draft of the Livestock Improvement Bill which it is hoped to have introduced next session was before the conference of the Royal Agricultural Society to-day, and was unanimously approved. The object of the Bill is to provide for an improvement by regulating the sales in certain classes of male cattle, draught horses, sheep, and pigs. It is proposed to set up a Livestock Advisory Committee, consisting of two South Island and two North Island members recommended by the breed societies and three members by the Minister of Agriculture, who shall draw up a stock improvement plan, appoint the necessary inspectors, and attend to other matters essential for the efficient operation of the plan. A complaint was made at the high charges which have to be met by any person importing a sheep dog from England, and the secretary was requested to make an inquiry from the shipping companies with a view to having the charges reduced.
It w r as also decided to inquire into the quarantine charges.
